Standardbreds Available For Adoption

Application To Adopt

Adoption fees depend on the horse's age and training. Fees are driven by costs incurred while retraining, transporting, housing, and providing medical care for the horse. These horses are learning their balance under a rider and usually need an intermediate rider (who can post). Most have been shod their whole lives and may need to remain shod for their continued comfort. Some can canter, but many are not able to canter with a rider. Please take these facts into consideration so together we can make good matches for these horses. Serving the New England region.

Bad Moonshine

10-year-old Bay Gelding

Bad Moonshine, 4L452, pacer – AKA Shine. Shine is a 10-year-old, 15.1-hand gelding that retired from racing in the summer of 2022. Shine is a kind and friendly guy who gets along with almost every human and horse and usually meets you at the paddock gate. He trained and raced as a pacer but has a really nice trot! He has been under saddle since September 2023 and works well in the arena, on the road, and in the woods. Like all our horses, he has a lot to learn, but despite a tiny stubborn streak (he really hates walking in water), promises to make some lucky adopter a fabulous horse. He is currently in training in Buxton, Maine. If Shine sounds like a good fit for your family, please complete the application at the top of this page.
